In the centers of our congregation of the Daughters of Mary Mother of the Church, coexistence is an important pillar not only for structuring school life, but also as an essential part of our global education. School is an environment where students experience life in society and learn the rules that society demands.
Our actions are based on the DECREE 51/2007, of 17 May, which regulates the rights and duties of students and the participation and commitments of families in the educational process, and establishes the rules of coexistence and discipline in the Educational Centres of Castilla y León.
Coexistence with others is one of the main objectives that the educational community has to assume today, in order to achieve both the well-being of all its members, as well as the personal and social development and the improvement of the school success of the students. That is why the promotion of this aspect is a transversal axis in our Educational Project and from the earliest ages, it goes through an education in values that will have a planning, development and monitoring from the Tutorial Action Plan.
We do not consider cohabitation as a mere application of disciplinary measures. Our approach has a constructive and positive vision, so the actions are aimed at the development of appropriate behaviors to live better and resolve conflicts in an educational way.
We also believe that any measure that is taken, if it does not have the commitment and participation of all sectors of the community, has a very specific validity. If we want to promote changes in attitudes and behaviours until they become routines, it is essential that we are all involved in this commitment. Coexistence is, therefore, everyone's task.
We believe that conflict is inherent in people's lives together. This is normal in any free and democratic society. For this reason, it should be understood as something positive to develop educational work and, above all, to serve as a means of learning, since the search for a solution to the conflict in a dialogic and peaceful way, allows to maintain a good harmony in interpersonal relationships.
As a novelty this year, we have designed a complete reception plan with planned actions, which we will implement to facilitate the adaptation of the students and/or teachers who join it, promote their adequate integration into the new school environment and give them the best educational response.
